Cycling is the new way to stay fit

When was the last time you actually looked at a bi cycle and thought of cycling?

Our Life before this corona virus pandemic started has been very busy and we rarely thought of bi cycles. The only way people could think about staying fit is by going to Gym.

Going to gym was the trend mostly all have  been following. Even if we go to gym once or twice a week we always used to have our membership card activated.

But after the pandemic strike and Gym being closed people started to look for ways to keep themselves fit. With lockdown being imposed and rules of social distancing to be followed cycling emerged as the safest option.


Cycling is a healthy, low-impact exercise that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, from young children to older adults. It is also fun, cheap and good for the environment.

In the present scenario where staying healthy and to have a good immune system is a mandatory requirement, people actually started looking at bicycles for keeping up with the fitness routine. Early morning people can be easily seen on roads wearing masks ,in sweat drenched clothes paddling their way to a healthy lifestyle. With national highway being restricted on weekends due to lockdown larger troops of friends or companions can be found on Highways burning their energy and enjoying the nicely converted cycling track.


According to Department of Health and Human Services 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity can help reduce the risk of health problems associated with sedentary lifestyle.

Cycling is a low impact exercise which causes less strain and injuries from other forms of exercise. It is the easiest form of muscle work out as it involves movement of all important muscles used for blood and food regulation.

Cycling is mainly an aerobic activity, which means that your heart, blood vessels and lungs all get a workout. You will breathe deeper, perspire and experience increased body temperature, which will improve your overall fitness level.

The health benefits of regular cycling include:

  • increased cardiovascular fitness
  • increased muscle strength and flexibility
  • improved joint mobility
  • decreased stress levels
  • improved posture and coordination
  • strengthened bones
  • decreased body fat levels
  • prevention or management of disease
  • reduced anxiety and depression

But the way you cycle also has a great impact on maintaining health. There is no such thing as the correct position, only the correct position for you. The set up for a bicycle will be different for each person as each individual has different sizes for  arms, legs, torsos and any other part of the body. The position which is comfortable for one cyclist may not be so for the next when it comes to road cycling.

We can’t suggest a cyclist the perfect riding position, we can provide a few basic set up tips which can provide you with a ride close to perfection, which you can then adjust accordingly over time to meet your own requirements.


The advantages of maintaining the correct cycling position include:

There are many variants when setting up a cycle, but many people get it wrong from the choosing a bicycle that is the incorrect size for them. Other details to consider which will help determine the correct frame size for your bike are saddle height, knee position, reach, hand position, and foot position. A look at each of these in turn will help determine the final size of the cycle best suited to the cyclist.


Also, there are facts that support the statement that people have started opting for cycling as a way to stay fit. The sale of bicycles have increased to four times during this pandemic. The major cycle manufacturing organizations are unable to meet the market demand at present & are running short of supply.

While many people have already opted for cycling as a regular activity we recommend you to at least start cycling as new hobby and let your body be benefited by the hidden treasures it will bring along.
