Covid plays spoilsport, does festivals sound festive anymore??

Upsi Chopra

Every year coming of October month, fills us with inner joy as we start planning our tickets to home, new clothes make their way into our wardrobe, we could almost smell boxes of sweets and chocolates making their way home and cheat days to ditch the diet plan will finally be here.

But we are almost at the entrance of festive season, and this time nothing feels like festival.

With COVID 19 positive cases increasing rapidly and death toll scariest than ever before, we are constantly living under the threat of this deadly disease corona.

We are scared while leaving our house even to buy essentials. With government now focusing on improving economy than showing concern about health of people the situation is getting harder every day. Almost every restriction imposed earlier to control the spread of this disease has been lifted off. But has the situation improved? Well, definitely no, as per the figures available it has only worsened.

Challenges we are facing during this Festive Season

This year festivals don't excite us anymore. Newspapers are filled with news of employees being laid off, salary cuts to cope up with the loses, local markets are not gloomy anymore.

What phase have we entered, we are worried to make our way back homes because that may include the use of public transport and we could still not think about their sanitation properly carried out. It's not just the use of public transportation that terrifies us but also that if we are even mildly infected with virus, we would not like to carry it home along with us.

Although people have started visiting public places now but with less money in hand and to save it for the essentials, our shopping list has reduced to bare minimum and essentials stuff only.

Forecasting the situation even the shopkeepers are not in the mood of blocking their money as people have stopped turning to shop's for huge purchases. As the demand is reduced from customers so are the available options of products at the shop.

Scaring effects of Festivals Celebration

Recently Kerala has celebrated its biggest festival of the year Onam, and the after effects of the festival are very disturbing- 126% jump is observed in COVID19 cases which has placed Kerala in the third highest list of active cases behind Maharashtra and Karnataka, which is a serious issue for a relatively small state.

How COVID impacted Local melas

As the festival season arises so is the demand to renovate houses with new decorative items to give a refreshing look. Every year craft festival is being held in national capital which is attended by hundreds of artists from different regions of the country and enjoyed by millions of people. This year's festival has had the worst response in last 20 years. Many artists start preparing for this craft mela starting from the beginning of March, but this year hardly people showed up at the venue. Artists who were making 20 lakhs till Last year could hardly make even 1 Lakh to pay for the rent of the venue. The situation has turned dreadful for such artist and they are left with no other option than looking for ways to sell products online.

How Corona is changing the way we celebrate Festivals

Durga Puja almost a weeklong festival is celebrated throughout the country with great zeal and enthusiasm. But this year it appears to have lost it's spark. Every year organizing committee plans special themes according to which pandals are decorated conveying a social message to the society. Pandal hopping, cultural performances, late night feasting are the most awaited activities. But this year all this has taken a backseat as the guidelines are to plan the puja without too many people.

Most of the organizing committees are still under dilemma either to have idol puja or just do ghat puja. Many cities have jointly decided to have a single pandal instead of multiple pandals usually set across small blocks or society. The main focus is to maintain sanitizing, social distancing and gathering of not more than 50 person at a time. Like every other thing happening digitally these days, puja committee has also decided to telecast the puja and home delivery of bhog to nearby areas.

Let’s stay Positive during this tough time

With everything turning negative this year festivals have lost their essence. However, we still wish to celebrate the festival with the same zeal and enthusiasm.

Amid all the chaos, let us just keep the negativity aside and pray for the wellbeing of all near and dear ones. It is fine if we can’t personally go and meet the relatives of family members let’s keep the festival spirit alive and should be happy even if they are not with us, their wishes are with us. Let’s make the best use of Digital Platform to stay connected with each other.

This is a tough time and this too shall pass!!

Till then Stay Happy and have a Happy Festive Season.

Cycling is the new way to stay fit

Upsi Chopra

When was the last time you actually looked at a bi cycle and thought of cycling?

Our Life before this corona virus pandemic started has been very busy and we rarely thought of bi cycles. The only way people could think about staying fit is by going to Gym.

Going to gym was the trend mostly all have  been following. Even if we go to gym once or twice a week we always used to have our membership card activated.

But after the pandemic strike and Gym being closed people started to look for ways to keep themselves fit. With lockdown being imposed and rules of social distancing to be followed cycling emerged as the safest option.

Cycling is a healthy, low-impact exercise that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, from young children to older adults. It is also fun, cheap and good for the environment.

In the present scenario where staying healthy and to have a good immune system is a mandatory requirement, people actually started looking at bicycles for keeping up with the fitness routine. Early morning people can be easily seen on roads wearing masks ,in sweat drenched clothes paddling their way to a healthy lifestyle. With national highway being restricted on weekends due to lockdown larger troops of friends or companions can be found on Highways burning their energy and enjoying the nicely converted cycling track.

According to Department of Health and Human Services 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity can help reduce the risk of health problems associated with sedentary lifestyle.

Cycling is a low impact exercise which causes less strain and injuries from other forms of exercise. It is the easiest form of muscle work out as it involves movement of all important muscles used for blood and food regulation.

Cycling is mainly an aerobic activity, which means that your heart, blood vessels and lungs all get a workout. You will breathe deeper, perspire and experience increased body temperature, which will improve your overall fitness level.

The health benefits of regular cycling include:

  • increased cardiovascular fitness
  • increased muscle strength and flexibility
  • improved joint mobility
  • decreased stress levels
  • improved posture and coordination
  • strengthened bones
  • decreased body fat levels
  • prevention or management of disease
  • reduced anxiety and depression

But the way you cycle also has a great impact on maintaining health. There is no such thing as the correct position, only the correct position for you. The set up for a bicycle will be different for each person as each individual has different sizes for  arms, legs, torsos and any other part of the body. The position which is comfortable for one cyclist may not be so for the next when it comes to road cycling.

Riding Position :

We can’t suggest a cyclist the perfect riding position, we can provide a few basic set up tips which can provide you with a ride close to perfection, which you can then adjust accordingly over time to meet your own requirements.

The advantages of maintaining the correct cycling position include:

  • Greater comfort
  • More efficient riding
  • Improved bicycle handling
There are many variants when setting up a cycle, but many people get it wrong from the choosing a bicycle that is the incorrect size for them. Other details to consider which will help determine the correct frame size for your bike are saddle height, knee position, reach, hand position, and foot position. A look at each of these in turn will help determine the final size of the cycle best suited to the cyclist.

Also, there are facts that support the statement that people have started opting for cycling as a way to stay fit. The sale of bicycles have increased to four times during this pandemic. The major cycle manufacturing organizations are unable to meet the market demand at present & are running short of supply.

While many people have already opted for cycling as a regular activity we recommend you to at least start cycling as new hobby and let your body be benefited by the hidden treasures it will bring along.

Best, Funny Quotes For SHOPPING LOVERS..

Upsi Chopra

Do you girls ever feel that you have enough clothes, shoes, bags, accessories?

Have you ever felt that the things you just bought will be of no use throughout your life?

Well I am pretty sure the answer is NO!!

Lets go shopping ..!!

Well this is not a sentence or a question its series of emotions. I don’t think any female could gather the strength to reject this proposal. I am sure we have more of shopping memories related to an occasion than of the actual occasion itself. The moment we get an invite of the upcoming function the same moment itself our mind has been assigned a new task to out beat our own level of perfection achieved in the last function.
Irrespective of the number of days or months left for the function unconsciously a check list is prepared with list of things to be done, stuffs to be purchased broadly clothes, shoes, bags, jewelry etc. etc.

For all those people who think we buy new shoes, clothes, makeup to impress them. Well people we believe in challenging ourselves, we don’t believe in looking better than any vague personality we have to always look better than our previous time.

We just love shopping and we keep finding reasons to shop and when we are unable to find the reason, we make some. We don’t only shop for ourselves; we are not so mean we can shop for can shop for our friends, family, relatives, house maid their kids and the list is endless. We can shop for anybody or for anything, be it window shopping, makeup shopping, holiday shopping , upcoming weather like summer, winter, autumn or fall. We just get tired enough and even for shopping throughout the year i am always in short of something or the other.

Am i a shopaholic??
The answer is a big No, i just like to keep everything in stock with me so that if all of a sudden, an event pops up than i should already have all the essentials already available.
Recently there was big buzz when liquor stores opened after lock down, trust me if you would have allowed women's to shop throughout the day the revenue generated would have been much more than that.

If you people also love shopping like me, than these are some of the best quotes that best describes you:

Whoever said money can’t buy happiness simply didn't know where to go shopping.

If you can’t stop thinking about it, Buy it.

You are right shopping won’t fix the problem. But it will put me in a better mood for when i actually have to deal with it.

Cinderella is a proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life.

Nothing haunts us like the things we didn't buy.

I like my money right where i can see it. Hanging in my closet.

I love shopping. There is a little bit of magic found in buying something new. It is instant gratification.

Shopping is an art and i am an artist. Respect please.

I have been shopping all of my life and still have nothing to wear.

Who needs love when there is a thing called SHOPPING.

Never underestimate the power of a good outfit on a bad day.

The quickest way to know a women is to go shopping with her.

Keep calm and shop on.

Heartwarming Father Daughter Quotes

Upsi Chopra
This is the best duo in the world.

Father - For every daughter he is the best man of the world, the most sorted, the most amazing, the most loving, the most caring and the list goes on and on. Father is definitely every girl's first love and the way we see or judge every guy is only because he has set a pretty good standard for how we should be treated. Don’t feel bad guys if you ever feel that we are too sophisticated or too much to handle, we already have a man who has treated us better, so if you cannot match his benchmark it’s a big NO. He is best human being for us on this planet and it will not be bad to say that yes, he means the world to us.

Daughter- Ask any father about his daughter and he will find himself running short of words on how amazing daughter he is blessed with. He might be an introvert person by nature but when it comes to speaking about his little angel he can speak continuously for hours without pause. He can reiterate instances from her 1st birthday till 21st, from the time she took her step till she stepped out of home for higher education. He may have never expressed openly how much he loves her daughter but whenever she is in pain, he bleeds bad.

Nobody can replace the feelings they share, with time life may take them physically apart but they will always be one soul, connected with each other.

Some of the heart warming quotes which best describes the emotional bond & love:

1. Daughters hold our hands for a little while but hold our hearts forever.

2. Every girl may not be queen to her Husband but she is always a Princess to her Father.

3. No one in this world can love a girl more than her Father.

4. A daughter is the happy memories of the past, the joyful moments of the present and the hope and promise of the future.

5. One of the greatest things about daughters is how they adored you when they were little; how they rushed into your arms with electric delight and demanded that you watch everything they do and listen to everything they say.

6. A father is always making his baby into a little woman, And when she is a woman he turns her back again.

7. When I'm at my best, I am my father's daughter.

8. Behind every independent girl, there is open minded Father. Who trusted her and not society. :-)

9. A father's calling is eternal and its importance transcends time. It is a calling both time and eternity.

10. Superb line from a Father's diary: My son is my son till he get a wife, but my daughter is my daughter till the end of my life.

11.  A Daughter is someone you laugh with dream with and love with all your heart.

Daily Skin Care Essentials For Healthy Glowing Skin

Upsi Chopra

In this presentable & photogenic era where innovation and technology has provided everyone an ultra-fine camera in their hands, everybody wants to look perfect & captivating all the time.

Happiness these days is expressed by clicking and sharing pictures on social media. When it comes to social media, we all get conscious about it, we might not be in the best clothes or hair all the time, but we all desire to have flawless glowing skin in the pictures to look back for.

Even skin tone and glowing skin is not always God gifted; it requires a lot of effort to take care of your skin & save it from problems caused by daily deteriorating environment.

Earlier looking beautiful & household chores used to be the only responsibilities of women, but with changing time women have empowered themselves and have acquired way smarter responsibilities be it managing professional life, social life or personal life. Sometimes while taking care of all these necessary aspects of life, we are not left with enough time to take care of our skin.

I am sharing with you simple and non-time taking possible ways by how you can get better skin effortlessly.
But before jumping into that, it is important to know our skin type, what we can do to make our skin look flawless, which skin care products to choose that will work best for our skin.

Awareness about your skin type only can solve half of your problems hence our skin care routine should also be based on our skin type only.

We can broadly classify skin in four types as following:
1.) Oily Skin
2.) Dry Skin
3.) Combination Skin
4.) Normal Skin

Oily Skin
Oily’ is used to describe a skin type with heightened sebum production. An over production is known as seborrhea.

Characteristics :
             Large visible pores.
             Glossy shine on face.
Because of enlarged pores – very prone to acnes, blackheads or white heads.

Dry Skin
‘Dry’ is used to describe a skin type that produces less sebum than normal skin. As a result of the lack of sebum, dry skin lacks the lipids that it needs to retain moisture and build a protective shield against external influences.

Characteristics:
Mild scaling or flakiness in patches
A rough and blotchy appearance (sometimes it appears to be prematurely aged)
             A feeling of tightness
             Possible itchiness

Combination Skin:
In combination skin the skin types vary in the T-zone and the cheeks. The so-called T-zone can differ substantially – from a very slim zone to an extended area.

Characteristics:
An oily T-zone (forehead, chin and nose)
Enlarged pores in this area perhaps with some impurities
             Normal to dry cheeks

Normal Skin
Normal’ is a term widely used to refer to well-balanced skin. The scientific term for well-balanced skin is eudermic. The T-zone (forehead, chin and nose) may be a bit oily, but overall sebum and moisture is balanced, and the skin is neither too oily nor too dry.

Characteristics:
             Fine pores
             Good blood circulation
A velvety, soft and smooth texture
A fresh, rosy color uniform transparency
             No blemishes
             Not prone to sensitivity

Irrespective of what your skin type is, a daily skin care routine can help you maintain overall skin health and improve skin concerns like acne, scarring, and dark spots. A daily skin care routine has four basic steps-that you can do once in the morning and once in the night before you sleep.

Day Care:
It is the time of the clock when you have endless jobs to be completed maintaing a natural healthy glow throughout the day. Hence, we must take care of essential things in the morning to maintain our morning spark till evening.

1.      Cleansing: Cleaning face is the most essential step of your day, as throughout the day skin encounters various amounts of pollutants, dust, dirt, different types of bacteria present in atmosphere & chemicals used in daily makeup. Hence, it becomes very important to deeply cleanse your face at least twice a day to open clogged pores, removes dust & acne causing bacteria.

Following are the type of products for various skin types:
             Oily Skin – Foaming type
Dry Skin- Cream or lotion type
             Combination Skin- Oil/Foaming type
             Normal Skin-Melting Balm type.
Micellar water can be best used for all skin types.
Toner:
These are best used to shrink pores & control oil content of oily skin. For other skin types, these work as optional products & should be used only if you want extra cleansing.

Moisturizer:
After deep cleansing along with pollutants, dirt, unwanted particles, natural layer of oil and essential protective layer on skin is also washed away. So, it is very important to apply moisturizer on your skin to provide it with needed moisture. Moisturizer is basic requirement of all skin types & many times people with oily skin makes a mistake of not considering it essential product for the skin.

Following are the types of moisturizers to be used:
             Oily Skin- Gel type
Dry Skin- Cream or lotion type
             Combination Skin- Balm type
             Normal Skin- Lotion type

Sunscreen:
Sunscreen plays an important role in protecting our skin from harmful UV rays which comes in two forms UVA & UVB, avoiding this can result in dark spots, patches or dullness of skin. It is advisable to use sunscreen at least of SPF30 & should be applied 15 mins before being exposed to sun.

Night Care:
Night is the time for you to relax, thus providing proper trigger to skin cells can help them repair all damage done throughout the day. So, use your nights wisely to get refreshing skin next morning.

Follow general routine of deep cleansing, if you have used excess of makeup throughout the day then wipe your face again with a cotton ball soaked in toner, apply serum rich in retinol, Vitamin C for all repairing action & have sound sleep of minimum 6 hrs.

General Advice:
As choosing suitable & skin friendly products is advisable for skin, your diet plan & daily dose of physical activities also plays a vital role in providing glow & brightness to the skin.

Keep your diet rich with Vitamins, Fruits, vegetables & try to take out at-least 15 mins a day for some exercise. All the glow & flawlessness you are looking for, will automatically knock your door.

Stay pretty, Stay Beautiful, Stay Flawless!!
